Romney and Daniel O’Connell work as partners. They came to Berkeley Hills Realty for its small business ethics and big world view. Daniel is a real estate broker and attorney. He was born in Boston and moved to California to attend the University of California at Santa Cruz where he graduated in 1984 with Bachelor’s degrees in economics and history. He went on to get a Master’s degree in economics and to teach for six years at the college level. During that time he also tutored prisoners at San Quentin Prison, assisting them with preparation for taking the GED exam. In 1998, Daniel graduated from Hastings College of the Law in San Francisco. He is a member of the California State Bar and a licensed California real estate broker, specializing in attention to detail and client advocacy. He enjoys real estate for the pleasant fact that a home is a symbol of happiness. Romney came to real estate as a natural outgrowth of her career in the arts and her interest in architecture. She has a Master of Fine Arts from Columbia University where she studied painting, sculpture and architecture. She received a Fulbright fellowship to study painting in Assisi in 1990. Romney specializes in preparing the home for market in order to maximize its value, whether that entails simply helping choose paint colors or advising on more extensive remodels. She enjoys making older homes light and livable while retaining the richness of character and sense of place a home acquires over time. She offers similar advice to buyers who are envisioning how to best use their new space. The O’Connells and their three children live in Berkeley and received the Berkeley Architectural Heritage Association's Preservation Award (2007) for the remodel of their home, both inside and out. |
